Release Notes for Chernobylite

Stalkers!

This is it! Season 1 and Chernobylite Enhanced Edition - the first big update in 2022 and one of the biggest ones planned for Chernobylite is now live!

You will not only be able to see the Zone like never before thanks to the implementation of Ray Tracing and Tessellation, but you will also find new, exciting content!

First of all, New weapon - Tactical Crossbow - which will allow you to even better adapt to the stealth style of play. Then you will find new story details about Igor and Tatiana in Memory of you, and, last but not least, a new DLC pack that allows you to include different additions to our base, environment and NPCs!

Enhanced edition - new, richer version

The game today is different than the one you remember from the PC launch in 2021. So far we added a huge new location - Pripyat Residential, new missions, new monsters and today also a new weapon and story elements.

One last thing - Ukraine

Recently we launched a Charity DLC to aid Ukraine. During the war this country is being bombed every day and more civlian casualties and victims need help. Help which will be needed in the following weeks and months. For this reason, we and our publisher All in! Games will take long-term measures to meet the current needs and deliver resources necessary to rebuild the destroyed cities in Ukraine.

We’re not gaining any profit from it, all we earn goes for charity. If you feel like it, please support the cause. We want to do as much as possible for our friends in Ukraine. That’s all.

Mega Patch “Ghost Town” - Dec 23rd 2021

The second free DLC update is coming with best Christmas wishes from the whole Farm 51 Team! As a part of the Ghost Town DLC, we have prepared a completely new level based on the Pripyat Residential Area. It invites you not only to explore Pripyat, but also to face off against monsters and soldiers in new side missions.

Below you will find the complete changelog for this Christmas patch:

Additions:
• New level: Pripyat Residential Area. This new level is full of new events and resources to collect. Players will be able to explore the 3D scanned recreation of Pripyat’s neighborhoods and visit new iconic locations such as the Azure Swimming Pool. 
• 3 new side missions: Supply drops. Explore the new level and find lost NAR resource dumps there.
• 3 new side: Monster hunts. Do you enjoy hunting monsters? So chase them on the newly added level and restock your Chernobylite supplies while you’re at it.

• The lighting in some parts of Pripyat Port was too aggressive, we’ve optimized it.
• The same applies to Power Plant, hope you’ll notice the difference! 
General:
• We have fixed markers in the previous free DLC, Monster Hunt. Monsters are now easier to find.
• Kozlow’s quest: it was possible to poison and stab Kozlow at the same time. Hope you didn’t get too attached to this overabundance because it’s fixed and no longer available. Choose one! 
• Speaking of overabundance: it was previously possible to obtain an infinite amount of resources by using the recycling machine. But it can’t be that easy so we’ve fixed it!
• Cameras related to weapons and upgrades have been tweaked.
• Previous weapon skin packs have been improved and beautified. 
• We’ve fixed reported crashes on Heist. 
• One particular Shadow was constantly getting blocked while walking through the door to the Power Plant - we took care of the poor bastard.
• Dialogue blocker next to Power Plant: it was very rare but we decided to fix it as well. 
• We’ve taken care of levitating objects and landscape distortions.
• We’ve fixed the encountered misspells. 
• We’ve added some missing lines in translations from English 
• We’ve fixed some bugs related to icons in tutorials

Mega Patch #7 - “The Woman in the Red Dress”

Please note that below you will only find a list of "important stuff" changes. Additionally, in the patch you will find over 500 tweaks, fixes and quality of life improvements that are impossible to list.

We are entering the final phase of the project, expanding the testing team and digging up old topics (also resulting from your feedback) that we have not been able to deal with before. The game gets better every day.

Some of the most important new stuff will be the missions! We have added two new ones, Hard Truth and Black Stalker, thanks to which you will be able to learn more about the story of two key characters and discover some deeply buried secrets.

If you thought that the weapons arsenal in Chernobylite could not be expanded anymore, we have a message for you: it is possible and we even did. The Chernobylite Blaster and Anti-Chernobylite Burner will expand your possibilities in the Zone. How? You will have to see for yourselves!

The new additions are also levels, which will have a great impact on how you will understand the whole plot and what you will choose in the future. These are “Stealing Ariadna’s technology” and “The Woman in the Red Dress”.

Besides mentioned above, we've also made some requested improvements to make your life easier while playing Chernobylite. One of them is the ability to load the game save from the last checkpoint during a pause from the menu. Thanks to this solution, you will be able to avoid any unpleasantness during the game...

In line with your suggestions, we've added the ability to disable both the entire interface and its individual elements. Of course, we will continue to improve this feature.

Mega Patch #6 - “The Truth” (4 Sep 2020)

Hello stalkers!

After two months of very intense work, we’re proud to deliver you a new megapatch and content pack, called “The Truth”. New location, characters, enemies, gameplay functions and tons of improvements are there.

We’re getting closer and closer to finalizing the project content and focus entirely on bugfixing, polishing and balance, but still a lot of elements in the game are temporary (aka placeholders). Please note that especially the dialogue localization for different languages requires a lot of additional work that can not be done before we finish working the game script. We hope that even in the unfinished version of the game you can feel yourself immersed in one of the most unusual places in the world.

Feel free to comment on the Steam forum about your impressions and let us know how you think we should work on further improvements and expansions.

We've changed the way soldiers use covers. This should give a huge increase in GPU performance during combat, but opponents can sometimes behave strangely. We will continue working on it.

Chernobylite Megaupdate #3 - “Old Friend” Changelog (5 February 2020)

Hello guys, behold, our first of many story-related updates is finally live! “Old Friend” is the biggest update we’ve prepared so far. There will be many new quests, dozens of events, quite a lot of improvements and accessories for weapon crafting. All this sprinkled with many fixes, visible optimization and redesigns of those elements, which you had objections to. Today, Chernobylite is about 50% bigger than at the launch. We hope that those players who put our game aside in the last couple of months will give it another try and will like what they see. We’re perfectly aware that we still have a long way ahead of us filled with lots and lots of mega patches until the game is finished. But we really feel that after those very difficult months we’re heading towards the end holding our heads high and we hope you will walk with us along the way.

Adrenaline Redesign

Chernobylite from the beginning was to be a difficult game with elements that need to be repeated and mastered. Unfortunately, in some places of the game we have clearly exaggerated. Players often (also through no fault of their own, but due to EA errors) fail their mission, and are forced to perform it again, without the possibility of using alternative methods available only after the next pass. To limit this situation and make more players have access to new content, we modified the way adrenaline works. Now its use is not associated with mission failures, and additionally gives a special power-up that should help you get out of a difficult situation.

Day limit

Time loop in our game is very important - it allows you to make other choices in missions, unlock new companions, or discover new secrets by alternate memories. A small limit allows you to focus on the plot and quickly correct your mistakes. Bigger will let you focus more on survival and team. How to reconcile these two approaches? The easiest way is to give you a choice - now when starting a new game you can choose how many days a single time loop will take.


Major Update - AI improvements, balance and fixes (20 January 2020)

AMD has told us that drivers released at the beginning of the year should noticeably speed up the game. You can expect at least a few percent increase in performance. Remember to update your drivers!


Mega Patch - Red Forest (19 December 2019)

Most of you are thinking about Christmas and presents, and we prepared something special for you as well! Just as promised in the Roadmap, we would like to introduce Red Forest Mega Patch! Merry Christmas everyone! ;) Have a look on what you may find in the update below.

The last weeks were devoted mainly to the new location called “Red Forest”. We’ve been teasing you with screenshots for some time, and now the moment has come! The gates are now open and you can explore the place yourselves. We hope you like it!

Changes in the Base
Feeding system redesigned

We received a lot of feedback regarding the feeding system, that’s why we decided to redesign it completely. Thanks to you we knew what to change so now the system should be more intuitive and transparent. Let us know what you think of it!

Storage changes

Weapon cabinet and Pantry have a visual representation of the objects stored in it. Now you can see your things inside them.

Free Play Mode

As mentioned in our last Weekly Report, we introduced the Free Play Mode which will allow you to choose any location in a selected weather configuration. You will also be able to choose from the missions available in that location, turn random events on or off or even start the game with all available weapons and skills!

Important: After the day ends, the game will automatically return to the main manu, so treat this mode as a test field for you.

Framerate improvements

We kept on working on optimization and we’re consequently moving forward! Players with lower PC specs should notice a significant improvement in framerate. We hope this will make the game more enjoyable for you.

Hey stalkers!

Assault rifle and weapon customization added, survival timeline expanded and storage limits removed (finally)!

Again, a lot of things happened during last days. As depicted in our monthly report last week, we’ve worked hard to fix the problems and bugs identified by the community, added a lot of improvements and increased the quality of the game itself. Now you can check the showcase of the most interesting features we've put into the game last month - they're available from today in our "Aftermath" Mega Patch!

We've recently added a lot of the features you've been waiting for. Save system can't cope, because the differences in information from older revisions are too large ... We are working hard on this problem, but we are not sure if we can solve it and what the consequences will be. If you don't want to wait, start the game again. This should resolve the fatal error that may occur after this update. We apologize for this inconvenience :(

Our game is not yet in a place where you can balance every element well, which is why many of you complain that it is too easy or too difficult. To improve your game experience, we've decided to create a tool that will allow you to customize the game to your preferences. From today you can balance the level of difficulty in three categories - survival, combat and base management difficulty. Just start a new game. And in addition, so that you don't have to go through the power plant and all tutorials again - we've also added the option of skip them.

Scanner:

We have seen on streams that players have a problem with scanner detection. You ask, "If I choose raw material on it, why do they all light up?" We wanted to make players do not have to perform many scans, and at the same time could easily locate the raw material they are looking for. Navigation on the scanner screen was clearly not readable enough for you. Therefore, now we have changed the raw materials selection method. All raw materials are marked in yellow and those that we are looking for in green. This should help you a lot in your search.

Changes that we have done in level design for combat and stealth have been warmly received by you, which is why we continue working in this direction. This week we've improved several more arenas:
