Release Notes for Crash Time - Undercover

Patch 5.1.0 (June 14, 2026)

It's been some time since our last update, and we appreciate your patience.

The gap reflects the scope of the work behind this release: a new DX11 renderer, full crossplay between Steam and GOG Galaxy, and a wide range of multiplayer stability improvements.

Thank you for your continued support.

Highlights

New DX11 graphics renderer - pick your Graphics API (DX9 or DX11) right from the launcher screen (DX11 is now the default). DX11 brings modern rendering, MSAA anti-aliasing, and better hardware compatibility.

Crossplay between Steam and GOG Galaxy - play together across both stores, with correct display names on both sides.

Major multiplayer stability pass - a wide range of crashes and connection issues are fixed.

Multiplayer & Online

Crossplay (Steam - GOG Galaxy): play across both platforms with the right names showing for everyone.

Note: leaderboards are still separate for now - we plan to merge them in a future patch.

Multiplayer invites: You can now send friend invites on GOG through a dedicated UI page designed for GOG while on Steam, this feature was already supported and continues to work through the overlay.

Major stability fixes: resolved numerous crashes when joining, leaving, or closing a session, when servers shut down, and when muting/unmuting players. Sessions, connections, and disconnects are now handled far more reliably.

Cleaner connections: duplicate connections are now rejected, dropped players time out correctly, and sessions properly leave the room when a connection fails.

Correct player identity: fixed wrong names and IDs showing up in sessions.

Achievements

Multiplayer achievements now unlock correctly.

Fixed the "Test Driver" achievement check.

Fixed career achievements not unlocking when replaying (without mods) a level you'd previously completed with mods.

Graphics & Visuals

DX11 rendering backend added alongside DX9, selectable in the launcher screen.

Fixed a motion blur artifact and a long-standing color output bug.

General rendering and shader fixes for sharper, more consistent visuals.

Performance and memory optimizations under DX11.

Settings & Launcher

VSync toggle added to the launcher (previously config-file only). VSync is now on by default.

Graphics API selector added to the settings so you can switch between DX9 and DX11.

Improved display resolution and format handling for better DX11 compatibility.

HUD & UI

The HUD now scales and stays centered correctly on ultra-wide and non-standard aspect ratios.

Note: this applies to the in-game HUD only while general UI/menu scaling is unchanged for now.

VSync toggle is also present in game options.
